New-Build Brick Slip Facade Construction

Bridgewater Wharf is a major residential development in Salford where UKR Facades delivered a £6m new-build facade package centred around a mechanically fixed brick slip system. UKR Facades’ scope included localised SFS repairs through to the installation of sheathing board, insulation, brick slip system and windows.

Delivered across a 78-week construction programme, the project included the installation of more than 700 windows alongside the wider facade works. Construction reached completion in December 2024, with the package delivered almost exclusively using MEWPs at the client’s request.

SCOPE OF WORKS

An Integrated External Wall Package

The facade package brought together SFS repair works, followed by the installation of sheathing board, insulated panels and a mechanically fixed brick slip system as part of the building’s external envelope. More than 700 windows were also installed within the programme, creating a substantial coordinated scope across the residential development.

ACCESS & PROGRAMMING

Delivering the Facade Package from MEWPs

At the client’s request, the facade works at Bridgewater Wharf were delivered almost exclusively using mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs). Applying this access strategy across a large-scale facade package introduced specific logistical and programming considerations throughout the 78-week construction period.

Coordinating MEWP access alongside the installation sequence required careful programme and logistical planning as the SFS, sheathing, insulated panels, brick slip system and windows progressed across the development. The approach enabled the project requirements to be managed through to completion in December 2024.
