PROJECT CASE STUDY

Grand Felda House

Fire Safety Remediation · Wembley

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Large-Scale Facade Remediation in Wembley

Grand Felda House is a £12m fire-safety remediation project involving two student accommodation Higher-Risk Buildings in Wembley. UKR Facades was appointed to deliver extensive facade remediation works across both buildings, replacing multiple elements of the external wall systems to improve fire safety and compliance.

The 65-week programme includes replacing brick slip cladding, aluminium cladding, GRC cladding, insulated render and associated external wall system sub-components. UKR Facades also provided a complete design and build solution incorporating architectural, fire engineering, structural engineering, and facade design input, supporting the project from technical development through Gateway and into delivery.

HIGHER-RISK BUILDING DELIVERY

Navigating a Complex Higher-Risk Building Project

Grand Felda House required a coordinated design solution incorporating architectural, fire-engineering and structural-engineering input, alongside support in developing the client’s Gateway 2 submission.

The buildings’ modular construction presented particular structural and fire-safety considerations. The replacement facade required heavy-duty PFC C-Channels at slab edges to support the new cladding systems, adding another layer of technical coordination to the remediation works.

UKR supported the project through Gateway 2, with the submission successfully approved by the Building Safety Regulator on its first submission, allowing the developed facade solution to progress into construction.
